Why Industrial Engineers Will Build The Future

Image
I wrote a letter to the head of industry relations for the department of Industrial Engineering today in an attempt to illustrate the true scope of industrial engineering. Anyone reading will obtain reasonable understanding of what industrial engineering is and what it's role is in building the future.  "Dear Mr Kotterman, It was a pleasure discussing the state of industrial engineering at Purdue today. In response to what you said today, I have attached a detailed version of the viewpoints I touched base on today below: "Hi-tech" is currently dominated by computer science majors and graduates. The explanation is simple, they currently hold maximal pricing power due to the fact the return on capital for the software industry is extremely high, and arguably, the highest. The current stalwarts of corporate america are dominated by companies whose core competency is to leverage pioneering work in computer science to create products that are delivered ...

Philosophy ?

Philosophy.  That boring, esoteric and archaic subject.  Ew. That party where Nietzsche the perpetual dickhead is busy being consumed in self-dread,  Kierkegaard is busy joking about humanity, his sense of self and death, Aristotle is busy in pointing out the flaws of the average and the below average humans and cracking jokes about humanity's brain farts while  Schopenhauer is at a corner metaphorically smacking his head after looking at the human race's sad plight and barbarism. These guys are few  of the main people at the party of philosophy.  A detailed description of this intellectually mad party would be interesting but that would deviate from the focus of this article. On speaking to Abhinav(Anand).he frequently mentioned and shared many links to websites and videos about philosophy. My insecure sense of self led me to believe that it was I who wasn't knowing enough about philosophy. It led me to feel like a poser for months.  Bu...

What's the connection between Alphabet, diabetic retinopathy and a wearable lens? Simple. A lens has been made by Calico Health Sciences, subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.The same lens can detect diabetic retinopathy better than a certified and experienced ophthalmologist. Now you must be wondering, HOW ON EARTH  DOES THIS THING WORK? Before you gain an effective understanding of how Calico Inc's lens works. We need to understand the approach that many research teams successfully employed before this.  The most prominent and successfully employed method, before this ,was the method of automatic detection of diabetic retinopathy using SIFT or Scale Invariant Feature Transform. SIFT is a computer algorithm which basically helps spot specific and localized features in high detail.  I won't get into the finer details of this study as it requires some patience and concentration to assimilate all the detailed information in the study.  Here's the link ...
